Will Powell say the word 'recession' at tomorrow's press conference?
resolved NO
Chance over time
The Fed chair speaks for about an hour after the rate decision on 29 July, and every word is transcribed. Inflation just cooled to 3.5% while gas prices spike, exactly the mix that makes reporters ask the r-word question, and makes a careful chairman decide whether to repeat it.
Resolves YES if Jerome Powell himself says the word 'recession' (including plurals) at any point during the July 2026 FOMC press conference. Reporters' questions do not count, only words out of his mouth.
