Every December Google publishes what the world actually looked up. A World Cup year with Winter Olympics in it makes the top spot a real fight.
Resolves to the #1 entry on Google's global trending-searches list for 2026.
Source: Google's official Year in Search 2026, expected early-to-mid December.
Settles once the list is published; closes 30 November 2026, 23:59 ET, ahead of publication.
The global list decides, not any country edition. If Google names categories with no single overall #1, the top of the overall 'Searches' category decides. 'Someone else' covers every entry not listed here. If no 2026 list is published by 31 January 2027, this voids and refunds.
