52.4%
implied probability
Four formats, one meaning
American (−110), decimal (1.91), fractional (10/11) and percent (52.4%) all encode the same fact. The first three tell you what a winning ticket pays; only the percent tells you how often you should expect to hold one. That's implied probability, and it's the number every sharp bettor translates into before deciding anything.
One honest warning
The percent you get from a sportsbook line includes the book's cut, the two sides of a game add up to more than 100%. To see the market's true opinion with the margin stripped out, run the pair through the no-vig calculator.
Quick answers
What does -110 mean?+
Risk $110 to win $100, which works out to a 52.4% implied chance. Minus numbers are favorites (what you risk to win 100), plus numbers are underdogs (what you win by risking 100).
How do I convert american odds to probability?+
For minus odds: odds ÷ (odds + 100), using the number without the sign, so -110 is 110 ÷ 210 = 52.4%. For plus odds: 100 ÷ (odds + 100), so +200 is 100 ÷ 300 = 33.3%.
What are decimal odds?+
Your total payout per $1 staked, stake included. Decimal 1.91 means $1 becomes $1.91. They're the easiest format to do math with, which is why this calculator uses them internally.
Which format should I think in?+
Percent. It's the only format that says what the number means, how often the thing happens. Every other format is a payout instruction wearing a costume.
